4 Spring Home To-Dos to Start Now

A change in season is a good excuse to reset your home and get it in order and, as we know, nothing quite beats a spring clean at this time of year.

While there are some spring-cleaning jobs you’ll want to do when it’s a little warmer, it’s easy to get a head start now on some of the more pressing tasks for your home. To help you get started, here are four ideas for some jobs you can start now to get your home ready for spring.

1. Organize your closet

After months of living in sweaters and layers, it’s time to welcome back the spring/summer edition of your wardrobe. There are a lot of great reasons to have a wardrobe clear-out at this time of year:

  • It helps you get rid of clothes you no longer want.
  • It will help make your closet more organized.
  • It can help you take stock of what you have, what needs repairing, and what you need.
  • It will make picking daily outfits much simpler.

Once you’ve cleared out, you can put your winter wardrobe items away ready to bring back out later in the year. Then you can organize your wardrobe by folding your clothes and hanging up the rest. When you’re through, you’ll have a neat and organized closet ready to choose your spring outfits.

2. Start work on the backyard

Getting your backyard ready for spring can be a lot of work, so it’s good to start now. Some of the first jobs you’ll need to do include clearing out any trash or debris that’s found its way there over the winter months and giving things a clean. Now is also a great time to start working on repairing your lawn after any damage sustained over winter. Use some lawn care tips to help you restore your lawn to a green and luscious state.

3. Get your A/C checked

After months of trying to keep your home warm, it’s now time to focus on how you’re going to keep your home cool. If you haven’t used your cooling system in a while, you’ll want to bring in some HVAC repair services to make sure everything is in working order. A quick service can save a lot of hassle later on when the temperatures start heating up and you need to cool your home down.

4. Clean the front of your home

With lighter mornings and evenings returning, your home is suddenly much more visible. Cleaning your home’s exterior will make your home look fresh and new, ready for those sunny days. Your home may need some extra touches, including a fresh coat of paint (especially areas like your fence and doors) to get it looking its best again.

With so many jobs to do, spring cleaning can feel a little overwhelming, although the results will always be worth it. Spring is something to look forward to, and by getting on top of your spring chores, you can make sure your home is ready too. Why not get your kids involved in the spring cleaning too to make it a full family effort?
